Routing guidance

What an agent reads to decide whether bing-keywords is the right source, and what to reach for when it is not.

Answers: Whether demand is rising or falling, seasonality, and a free sanity check on a paid source’s number before you trust it. Returns 26 weeks of exact and broad-match impressions.
Query shape: A single plain keyword.
Cost: Free. No per-request cost, so try it first on any demand question and spend money only if it is insufficient.
Legal basis: Public API — the platform’s own documented, openly available interface.
Latency: Fast.
Prefer instead: `google-keywords` or `google-keywords-bulk` when the question is literally "what is the search volume".
Cannot answer: Google search volume. Rankings. Reliable related-keyword expansion — expansion is attempted, but frequently comes back empty.
Caveat: DO NOT REPORT THESE AS SEARCH VOLUME. They are Bing impressions. Bing carries a far smaller share of search than Google and skews older, desktop and US. The count is roughly an order of magnitude below the equivalent Google volume, and the ratio is not fixed — it cannot be scaled into a Google estimate.
Caveat: Zero rows means Bing has no impression history for that keyword. It does not mean the keyword has no demand on Google.
