Routing guidance

What an agent reads to decide whether ebay is the right source, and what to reach for when it is not.

Answers: What something really sells for, as opposed to what it is listed at. Sold listings are one of very few public records of a transacted price, which makes this the reference for resale valuation and for secondary-market demand.
Query shape: A product phrase, narrowed by category, condition, and sold-versus-active.
Cost: Metered per listing.
Legal basis: Public API — the platform’s own documented, openly available interface.
Latency: Fast.
Prefer instead: `resale` for fashion and sneaker secondary markets. `amazon-history` when the question is new-goods pricing over time.
Cannot answer: Sold history beyond the platform’s retention window. Buyer identity. Offers accepted below list, which are recorded as the listing price.
Caveat: Titles are seller-written and inconsistent, so category filters are far more reliable than keyword matching.
