This is a live MCP server. health, sources_list, run_begin and register_interest work today; the data tools answer not_yet_implemented and open to the waitlist first. Nothing here fabricates data.

Routing guidance

What an agent reads to decide whether github-repos is the right source, and what to reach for when it is not.

Answers: Whether an open-source project is healthy. Contributor count and issue close rate are the honest signals; stars are a vanity metric that measures marketing.
Query shape: A repository, organisation, topic or language filter.
Cost: Free within rate limits.
Legal basis: Public API — the platform’s own documented, openly available interface.
Latency: Fast.
Prefer instead: `github-code` for who uses it. `npm` or `pypi` for download trend.
Cannot answer: Private forks, commercial usage, or production reliability.
Caveat: Stars can be bought and are routinely campaigned for. Weight contributors and release cadence instead.
