Routing guidance

What an agent reads to decide whether courts is the right source, and what to reach for when it is not.

Answers: Whether a company is litigating, against whom and over what. Litigation patterns are a risk signal, and complaints frequently contain business detail available nowhere else.
Query shape: A party name, case number, court or date range.
Cost: Free for dockets; metered where a document must be retrieved.
Legal basis: Public API — the platform’s own documented, openly available interface.
Latency: Moderate.
Prefer instead: `enforcement` for regulatory action rather than private litigation.
Cannot answer: Sealed filings, settlements, and most state-court matters.
Caveat: A filing is an allegation. Reporting one as fact is defamation risk, not analysis.
