Routing guidance

What an agent reads to decide whether earnings-calls is the right source, and what to reach for when it is not.

Answers: What executives say unscripted when analysts press them. The Q&A section is where guidance gets qualified, competitors get named, and strategy shifts appear months before a press release.
Query shape: A ticker or company name and a quarter, or a phrase searched across transcripts.
Cost: Metered per transcript.
Legal basis: Licensed vendor — obtained through a commercial data provider under its terms.
Latency: Moderate.
Prefer instead: `sec-edgar` when the exact legally-filed wording matters more than the spoken one.
Cannot answer: Private companies. Off-the-record briefings. Anything said outside the call.
Caveat: Transcription errors cluster on exactly the terms that matter — product names, numbers and acronyms. Verify a quoted figure against the filing.
