Routing guidance

What an agent reads to decide whether clinical-trials is the right source, and what to reach for when it is not.

Answers: What is being tested, by whom, at what stage — registered before results exist. A pharmaceutical or device company’s pipeline is legible here years before any publication.
Query shape: A condition, intervention, sponsor or phase, with status filters.
Cost: Free.
Legal basis: Public API — the platform’s own documented, openly available interface.
Latency: Fast.
Prefer instead: `fda` for approvals and safety actions after a trial concludes.
Cannot answer: Unregistered trials. Results for trials that never posted them, which remains a large share.
Caveat: Status fields go stale — trials sit at "recruiting" long after they stop. Check the last-update date before believing the status.
