Routing guidance

What an agent reads to decide whether equities is the right source, and what to reach for when it is not.

Answers: Price and fundamentals for a listed company, as structured data rather than a filing to parse.
Query shape: A ticker or ISIN, with a period and statement type.
Cost: Metered per symbol per period.
Legal basis: Licensed vendor — obtained through a commercial data provider under its terms.
Latency: Fast.
Prefer instead: `sec-edgar` when the exact filed wording matters. Vendor fundamentals are normalised, and normalisation loses detail.
Cannot answer: Real-time quotes at trading latency. Private companies.
Caveat: Restatements and adjustments differ by vendor. Two providers will disagree on the same quarter.
